The Tiffany Biergarten began as the
Hotel Goetz in 1904, when it was built by Henry Goetz at the time
when Frankenmuth was one of the leading lumbering communities in
the Saginaw Valley.
Tiffany’s has endeavored to recreate and preserve some of
the past history of the building which was begun by Mr. Goetz. In
1926 the Hotel Goetz was sold to Henry Fischer and renamed the Fischer
Hotel. In the early 1940’s, the hotel again was sold, this
time to the McNiven family who ran the business as the McNiven Hotel.
The Zehnder family bought the building in 1963, remodeled it and
called the business “the Tiffany Biergarten”. In 1988,
Russ Baker purchased the business, installed food service and renamed
it Tiffany’s.
The bar, even from its early days, was quite unique with the beautiful
woodwork and famous running water floor cuspidor. The original tin
ceiling has been painted gold. The walls have been painted a rich
red and covered with hand stenciled designs to draw out and accent
the fine grains of the polished woodwork. Twenty Tiffany chandeliers
decorate the ceiling giving Tiffany’s its name.
Food service, added to the bar service, features homemade pizza,
pasta and charbroiled specialties.
Today, Tiffany’s is always a must stop for the thousands
of visitors to Frankenmuth as well the favorite watering hole and
eatery for the locals.
Each year, spring is offically welcomed in Frankenmuth by the opening
of Tiffany’s outdoor patio. Beginning weekends April 1st,
then everyday from May 1st through Labor Day weekend, and again
weekends through October (weather permitting of course), streetside
dining is always a memorable experience on our patio. Either enjoying
a meal from our full menu or just people watching with a cocktail
from the full outside bar, the “Tiffany’s Terrace”
has become a downtown hotspot!
Tiffany’s features weekly seafood specials from the kitchen,
as well as the best happy hour in town. Enjoy watching the big games
on our big screen TV and gathering with friends and family in a
warm, fun atmosphere.
